CNA Certification Requirements in Indiana
In order to obtain your CNA in Indiana, you must first go through a state-approved training course. This program includes both classroom and clinical work, totaling 105 hours. You must successfully complete this course before you can take the state exam and then you are on your way to becoming a Certified Nursing Assistant!
Become a CNA in Indiana
Want to become an Indiana certified CNA? Here’s how:
Enroll in a state certified school (you can search CNA school throughout Indiana via the CNA school directory)
Complete the CNA training
Take practice CNA exam (this step is optional and may be included within certain CNA courses)
Register to take the state CNA exam
Once you pass the exam, apply for desired jobs to work as a certified nursing assistant!
Local CNA Training Classes
In order to attend CNA training in the state of Indiana, you’ll need to understand, read and speak English, and have a high school diploma or GED equivalent. Programs require for you to be at least 18 years old, able to pass a background check, have a medical exam, and have proof of immunization. Training programs tend to cost around $400 to $1600 in addition to other expenses such as textbooks and course materials.
If you are a current RN, LPN or have a CNA certification within a different state you are able to simply take the CNA exam without training.

IN CNA Testing
The Indiana State Department of Health requires all CNA testing to go through Ivy Tech Community college. Dates with Ivy Tech Community College do tend to fill up very quickly so it is best to apply for the exam early or check with the school that you trained with to see if they are authorized to administer the Certified Nursing Aide competency exam. When you pass the exam, your name will be added to the Indiana Nurse Aide Registry, allowing employers to easily confirm your CNA certification.
