Company Name

Right at Home In Home Care and Assistance. We are currently located in Perrysburg but we are moving to Maumee soon.

Your Name & Title

John Baldwin, Owner

Do you have a Twitter or Facebook account? If so, include your Twitter handle and a link to your Facebook page.

Our office has our own Facebook page that is filled with valuable information relating to caring for the elderly. We can be looked up on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/RightAtHomePerrysburg

What’s your website address?

Our website is www.rahnwohio.com. There is a link on the bottom of the page for job listings and that will take you right to the application.

How long have you been in business?

Right at Home was originally started in 1995 in Omaha, Nebraska and our office opened in August 2010 in Perrysburg, Ohio.

What positions are you recruiting for now?

We are continuously hiring for RN’s, STNA’s, CNA’s, HHA’s and Companion Caregivers for several Northwest Ohio locations such as Bowling Green, Toledo, Sylvania, Oregon, Maumee, Perrysburg, Waterville, Monclova.
We currently have an immediate need for 3rd shift (11p-7a) in addition to hiring for 1st (7a-3p) and 2nd (3p-11p).

How many caregivers do you hire each month?

We try to be ahead of any new cases that may come our way. We want to be able to staff a 24 hour case as soon as they need the help. Therefore we try to hire 10 – 15 new caregivers each month.

Why do caregivers like working for you?

The flexibility with schedules and the experienced support they get from office staff to be successful on each case they go to.
We also offer incentives to pick up shifts farther away and last minute open shifts.

What’s your on-boarding process for a new employee?

Our applications can be filled out online, we screen for experience and availability. We do a phone interview and a face to face interview. Once the face to face interview is complete and the applicant is a good fit, we check references and schedule an orientation. At this time we do drug screens, background and motor vehicle checks. One all of these are complete, we sit down personally with the new employee and go over the scheduling process with them. This whole process can take as short as 2 days to complete and they can walk out of orientation with a schedule.

During an interview, what’s most important for you to see/hear from a caregiver?

It is important to see that applicants are passionate about providing care for our clients. Those are the individuals that are going to be the most successful with us. During the interview we observe body language and facial responses to see if the words match the excitement and passion within.

Tell us about the best interview you’ve conducted with a caregiver and why it was the best.

The best interview that I have conducted was with a caregiver that wanted to provide care for others but lacked the experience required. Watching her face light up and get excited when speaking about caring for others was enlightening. She had just taken the STNA class and was state test ready but had no professional experience. We did give her a chance and she has been an exceptional employee. She was even chosen for employee of the month.

Anything else you’d like to share with prospective employees?

When coming to an interview, dress for the position you want and be passionate about the work you are applying for. This work is rewarding for those that are passionate about the field.

Read more below in our one-on-one interview!

Company Name

MKS Management, Inc. d/b/a Right at Home of Northwest Indiana

Your Name & Title

Marc and Kristin Sokol, Owners

Do you have a Twitter or Facebook account? If so, include your Twitter handle and a link to your Facebook page.

Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/RightAtHomeNorthwestIndiana?pnref=lhc

What’s your website address?

http://www.rightathome.net/northwest-indiana/

How long have you been in business?

Right at Home was founded in 1995 and has since grown to be an international leader in in-home care and assistance with over 400 offices in the U.S., as well as offices in Asia, Europe, Australia, and South America. Right at Home has recently expanded into Northwest Indiana and is locally owned and operated by Marc and Kristin Sokol. The office has been open for about 6 months and continues to grow each week.

What positions are you recruiting for now?

We are always looking for qualified CNAs, HHAs, and other experienced caregivers to serve as caregivers for our clients in their homes. Our caregivers assist our clients with personal and companion care, including bathing and showering, dressing and grooming, ambulation, transfers, medication and other health reminders, as well as providing companionship, light housekeeping, and transportation for errands and doctor’s appointments.

How many caregivers do you hire each month?

We are growing quickly and hire 12 – 20 caregivers each month.

Why do caregivers like working for you?

Perhaps the number one thing our caregivers tell us they appreciate is our flexibility and understanding. Our philosophy is we employ the whole person and want to make sure they have shifts that fit within their lives. Some of our caregivers have young children and like to work around family schedules. Other caregivers provide care to their own family members. And still others are students who need to work around their school schedules. No matter the situation, we get to know all of our caregivers so we can help staff them on cases that are a good fit for them and their schedules. In addition, our caregivers love that we treat them like professionals. That means we treat them with respect, we listen to them, we give them opportunities for advancement with pay raises, we provide them with ongoing training and support, and we publicly recognize our caregivers who do outstanding work. For example, our caregivers have opportunities for advancement through our caregiver advancement program, which includes opportunities for promotions, pay raises, paid time off, and other benefits. And each month we award a caregiver who has gone above and beyond with our Caregiver of the Month award. The winners of this award get their names engraved on a special plaque that we keep in the office for everyone to see. Also, our caregivers receive ongoing training and development through our RN on staff, our caregiver trainers, and through Right at Home University, which is our proprietary, world-class training program that contains hundreds of online training modules. We are committed to setting our caregivers up for success!

What’s your on-boarding process for a new employee?

We have an in-depth hiring process, with several interviews including a group interview, written competency exams, and a skills assessment conducted by an RN on our staff. We also run comprehensive background checks, including criminal and DMV checks and drug testing. Applicants who are selected to be caregivers also go through a comprehensive orientation and have access to on-going training and support.

During an interview, what’s most important for you to see/hear from a caregiver?

We want to see proven skills and experience as well as compassion and empathy for seniors and disabled adults.

Tell us about the best interview you’ve conducted with a caregiver and why it was the best.

Our most memorable interviews are with applicants who share personal reasons – either experiences with their own family members or with clients with whom they connected – for why they are compelled to be caregivers. We can remember many of the personal stories our top caregivers shared with us during the interview process.

Anything else you’d like to share with prospective employees?

In addition to strong skills, experience, and compassion, we like to see applicants demonstrate a spirit of teamwork. We are also looking for great communication skills with both the office staff and the other caregivers. Our office is a team and we want to hire caregivers who buy into that mentality and work well with our team.

Thanks, Marc and Kristin! Stay tuned for more weekly Featured Employers.
