I am currently a caregiver for my first cousin who has dementia. I take her to doctors appointments, out to eat, to the grocery store, and do basic cleaning, cooking, taking care of her two cats, and just get her out of the house for a change. I don't have health insurance at present and I am living with her 24/7. I don't have a lot of time off and I need time away from the situation to get refreshed. She does not talk much. This is why I would prefer not to live in again. From 2006 to the end of 2011, I took care of my Mom who was completely physically disabled in a wheelchair and my Dad who had Alzheimers. For six years, I cooked, fed, lifted, cleaned, washed, and drove my parents where ever they wanted to go. I have a disability van that can seat two wheelchairs and a couple of people in back seat. I would be interested in transporting to doctors office, hospital, the mall, hair appointments, or whatever they need to do. I love people and animals and would treat them like family. I treat others like I would like to be treated with respect. I am also a folk artist in my spare time. I paint wood I find that resembles people, animals, and angels. I care about older people and want them to feel loved and important. They have lived their lives and deserve to be treated with kindness and compassion.
I believe in giving my all to my patients. I will care for each person as if they were my own family. I enjoy talking and listening and making others feel loved.
