Why I Want To Be A Caregiver

I want to be a caregiver because both sets of my grandparents have disabilities from old age and I love being with them and helping them, whether it's taking them to the store or cooking for them or cleaning for them, etc. I love the camaraderie I feel when I am with them. We laugh and we have fun, no matter what it is we are doing. Just being there with them and helping them preform daily tasks or exercising their feeble bodies, etc., give me great joy because I love them so much. I would treat anyone's elderly members that way, with love and understanding and compassion. I'm not certified in anything, but I know how to treat someone as if they are still young and how to offer them encouragement and uplift their spirits. Plus, there is a lot to be learned from our elders and I enjoy the conversations I can have with any of them because they are so fascinating.

Why You Should Hire Me

An employer should hire me because I was born with a want to care for and help others. I know how to uplift people and give them a positive outlook, no matter the situation or topic of conversation. I would try to make them feel young again and as independent as possible, without risk to their health. My mother's mother and my father's father both have a number of disabilities and I am all the time helping them, so I have some experience in the caregiving department. I'm an all around sweet person and have been told I'm quite pleasant to be around. I have a strong stomach and can handle almost anything thrown in my direction. If one of my patients was to fall, I have the ability to pick them up without assistance (if it isn't available to me) because I've had to do this for my mother's mother on several occasions. I have a heart and would be compassionate toward whomever I gave care to, no matter their problems. For example, if a patient has trouble remembering or is in the early stages of Alzheimer's and mistakes me for one of their children, of course I would play the part just to see their face light up. I'd forever feel guilty if I didn't do this if the opportunity presented itself.
