I knew I wanted to become a caregiver/CNA after I helped my father survive a rough winter. He was not eating well, sleeping well, his hygiene was declining, and his desire to get out of the house was lessening. After helping him from Nov 2010 to March 2011 I learned that I enjoyed helping the elderly to reengage in life. I acquired my CNA license in Wyoming June 2011. I went to work for a LTC facility where I worked as the Activity Director/CNA/transporter and I loved it. I wanted to help in a more personal way so in August 2016 I left the LTC facility and I opened my own home care business. I have enjoyed every minute I spend working with my clients on a more personal level but I do miss the residents I had come to know and love over the past 5 years.
I am very valuable because I can relate to those I care for. I can listen and connect and still understand the difference between their reality and how life is really functioning. I understand how to care for someone in their world while combining what needs to happen for them in the world they live in. I am dedicated and thorough. Every resident or client I have worked with has enjoyed the time they have spent with me. I don't offend easily. I take redirection well and I love to learn.
