Job Description

Capital Home Care, Inc. is seeking skilled, experienced Caregivers to join our growing healthcare team. In this position, you will attend to patients directly, in their own homes, and assist them with basic daily-life needs such as feeding, bathing, dressing, etc. You will take daily vitals, monitor the patient’s behavior and mood, and report any changes as necessary. 

 

Caregiver Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Check on and assist patients with nutrition, hydration, exercise, hygiene, and other daily living needs
  • Prepare and serve meals to patients; help them eat and drink if necessary
  • Dispense medicine if state certification laws allow
  • Help bathe, groom, and dress the patient
  • Re-position and turn bedridden patients; assist those who need help walking or assistance transporting in wheelchairs
  • Keep rooms and living areas clean and sterile and change soiled bedding and bed pans
  • Take vital signs daily and record patient eating habits and bodily functions, reporting any drastic changes to a nurse or physician
  • Follow state and federal mandated standards and procedures

Job Requirements and Qualifications

***MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE WITH YOUNGER PATIENTS AND HANDLING SEIZURES***

  • Minimum of 3+ years experience as a Caregiver
  • Valid CPR & First Aid Certifications
  • Valid CNA & CMT Licenses
  • Recent TB PPD or X-RAY (within the past year)
  • Basic knowledge of medicine
  • High level of patience, empathy, and compassion
  • Excellent observation skills with high attention to detail
  • Exemplary communication skills, both written and oral
  • Basic computer and note-taking skills (record keeping)
  • Ability to work long hours on one's feet
  • Experience with Hoyer Lifts and patient transfers/complete care
  • Ability to effectively communicate in English
