Job Description

Respite Service Description:

This service provides care and supervision to youth with developmental disabilities, either in their family home or in the community setting, to temporarily relieve the family from the demands of caring for them. The care is intended to be provided during the times when the family normally would be available to provide care. The services include the provision of social and recreational experiences to the youth in and out of home. Caring for youths with intellectual/developmental disabilities can be very challenging and sometimes may require ample time. As a result, primary caregivers may need occasional rest. It is for this reason that Creative Healthcare hires very experienced, highly qualified, and dedicated respite workers to provide care for youth in their home, or outside their primary residence while their caregivers engage in activities they find relaxing, entertaining, and restful. During this break, the caregiver may use the opportunity to strengthen their relationship with their children, spouses, partners, other family members, and friends. The care givers could also use the opportunity to catch-up on household duties and even their own sleep.
