The Job Requirements below outline your primary responsibilities as a caregiver. This is not meant to be an exhaustive list of services, as the exact duties to be performed for each assignment will vary. Prior to beginning a new assignment, Senior Helpers will provide you with background information about your client and review any special needs this client may have.

Objective: To provide professional care giving services and to help clients maintain their independence and to assist them with household and family support services.

Primary Responsibilities

• Provide health care services in clients homes
• Assist with clients personal care activities
• Perform domestic and household tasks
• Transport and accompany patients to doctor’s appointments or errands
• Monitor patients (vital signs, temperature, respiration, etc) and report on their condition
• Provide reminders for prescribed medications
• Assist with mobility and physical therapies/exercises
• Prepare and plan meals including any special dietary needs
• Provide companionship and basic emotional or psychological support
• Maintain care records and document provided services
• Report any significant client changes to the office immediately
• Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Senior Helpers Employee Handbook and Training Manual

Skills

• Proven working experience as home health aide or nursing assistant
• Caring and compassionate personality
• Ability to be flexible and adapt to new situations
• Ability to monitor and record vital signs
• Familiarity with basic nutrition and personal hygiene standards
• Proficiency in English at an average adult level
• High school degree or equivalent
• Valid driver’s license with no serious driving violations
• Ability to pass a drug screen and criminal background check
