Job Description

Description: 

Under administrative direction, serves as a QMA for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities receiving home and community-based services. The QMA is primarily responsible for medication management, pharmacy relations, and quality oversight of medication administration activities.    

QMA Responsibilities:

    Monitor and verify cycle fill medications and Medication Administration Records for individuals receiving Medicaid waiver services in the community.

    Coordinate new client intakes with the pharmacy.

    Coordinate medication orders and refills with the pharmacy. Contact prescribing physicians as necessary to ensure refill orders are received timely by the pharmacy.

    Coordinate resolution of PA issues.

    Complete on-site quality audits of medication administration environments and practices.

    As needed, provide assistance to programming staff regarding individualized Medication Administration Plans.

    Serve as a resource to staff for medication administration best practices.

    Participate as a member of the Incident Review Committee.

    Communicate required client lab needs to Programming Staff to ensure timely medication refills.

    Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

·       Knowledge

Possession of a current QMA certification

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities preferred

·       Skills & Abilities

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with coworkers

Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing

Ability to represent the department on controversial issues with tact and diplomacy

·       Additional Requirements

At least 18 years of age

Valid driver’s license, current liability insurance and dependable vehicle

Current negative TB (Tuberculin test)

Acceptable criminal (State and County) histories

·       Relationships

This position works under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing and has direct contact with Compass employees, individuals receiving services, their families, and community partners. The QMA must demonstrate a willingness to accept supervision and an interest in, and empathy for, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
