Performs patient care and related activities as directed by the nurse
Administers patient’s personal hygiene regimen, including but not limited to showers/baths, skin care, oral hygiene as indicated by the nurse
Positions patients as indicated for maintenance of correct body alignment
Answers call lights for both assigned and unassigned patients
Makes beds for both assigned and unassigned patients
Assists with toileting needs; records/reports to the nurse as appropriate
Performs specific interventions to meet elimination needs by providing catheter car and/or administering enemas; records/ report to nurse
Provides interventions to meet patients nutritional needs
Records and reports I&O and calorie count after every meal
Completes the following according to unit routine, nursing policy and procedure, records findings and alerts nurse to change from patients norm; vital signs, height/weight, intake/outtake, urine/stool specimen, stool guaiac, simple dressings, bowel/bladder training
Demonstrates continued competence in caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective
Displays an understanding of each patient’s cognitive, physical, emotional, and chronological maturity in assessments, treatment, and care undertaken
Appropriate modifies approach to the patient based upon patient age
Provides appropriate interventions related to safety issues
Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of
designated skills identified for position
Licenses: Current LNA
Certifications: CPR preferred
Education: High school diploma preferred; completion of LNA program required
Experience: One year of experience as a LNA within a facility or equivalent
Communicates patient information to assure confidentiality and continuity of care
Interacts with all patients, families, visitors, and fellow employees in a mature, responsible manner to ensure positive and professional environment
Maintains work area and equipment in a pristine manner
Demonstrates the safe operation of equipment and machinery and follows procedures for reporting and correcting an unsafe situation
Ability to lift/transfer patients in excess of 100 pounds, which may require pushing, pulling, and essentially utilizing a full range of body movement
Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl
